      I understand what you are saying, you are saying discern what you are believing. That is when the scriptures come in. Read what makes you elevated mentally so that you can be ready for the hardest times to come, because if one is really a follower of Christ other than just being called for the sake of publicity, one must aware of the consequences. Verify if what the person you are calling a mentor is really what God wants. Read the scriptures, refer to others for advice. Thank you for reaching out.
