Africa smiles without bliss,
Her roots decaying in the abyss.
Children of her soil, blind to their worth,
No longer knowing the value of their birth.
Once a land of beauty and grace,
Now drowning in a sea of disgrace.
Ethics fade, replaced with greed,
As Africa’s originality recedes.
Like a cancer, corruption spreads,
Leaving Africa in tatters and shreds.
A once proud continent, now embarrassed and shamed,
As her children play a part in her degradation, unashamed.
Africa’s importance cannot be denied,
But her impotence is felt far and wide.
As her children celebrate Africa Day,
They forget the past, letting it slip away.
But hope remains, as long as Africa’s spirit lives,
She can clean her mind and rejuvenate, and give
Value once again to her deep roots,
And bring back her originality, bearing fruits.
Africa must rise from her perversity,
To regain her place in humanity’s diversity.
So let us not forget what we have lost,
And work together to reclaim what Africa’s cost.
Touching, and very well-written. Africa, The Cradle of Humanity. 🤍
